PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
OVERVIEW
Citrus Valley Poker League (CVPL) and its hosts strive to create a welcoming environment for all players and members; however, we cannot be held accountable for individual player behavior. We have put in place a code of conduct, poker etiquette guidelines, and fundamental rules for all games and events. Non-compliance with the code of conduct may result in restrictions on your ability to participate in our events.
Players are expected to act in a respectful and professional manner at all times. CVPL aims to run a poker league that provides entertainment for its players. We highly encourage the use of appropriate poker strategies; however, we do not tolerate verbal deception or aggressive tactics from any player. Ultimately, players have the freedom to play their hands as they choose, provided it does not disrupt the event's flow or cause conflicts with other players or with the relationship between the venue and CVPL.
By taking part in CVPL events, players agree to follow these established rules. Live events held at restaurants and bars on our schedule are accessible to the public, though some club-style venues may require a membership due to their liquor license regulations and bylaws.
Failure to comply with these rules may lead to a warning, suspension, or even a permanent ban, depending on the judgment of CVPL management.

We value our players and recognize that conflicts can arise in any competitive setting. All participants are expected to maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, regardless of the circumstances.

Players of all levels, from beginner to advanced, are always welcome to participate. We will help teach people how to play the game, so that everyone can come and enjoy. We will help teach those individuals that have never played, to those that just need a refresher on the game. Remember we are playing for points and everyone is welcome, so please be kind.​
CODE OF CONDUCT
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Collaborating with another player or any form of cheating.
- Threatening or assaulting any player, host, or venue staff, either verbally or physically.
- Using swear words or obscene language excessively.
- Causing a disruption by arguing, yelling, or making excessive noise.
- Mishandling cards, chips, or other event materials by throwing, tearing, bending, or crumpling them.
- Damaging or vandalizing property.
- Bringing outside food or drinks to any event (unless specifically allowed).
- Breaking any local or state laws.

The following actions at the table are deemed unacceptable and may result in a warning, removal, or suspension:
- Intentionally acting out of turn.
- Carelessly splashing chips into the pot.
- Agreeing verbally to check down a hand when another player is all-in (considered collusion).
- Disclosing the contents of a folded hand before betting concludes. Do not share any hand details during play to avoid imparting this information to active players.
- Unnecessarily delaying the game.
- Stacking chips in a way that obstructs card dealing or visibility.
- Making comments or taking actions that could unduly impact the game, regardless of whether the offender is participating in the hand.
- Using a cell phone at the table in a manner that delays the hand’s progress.
- Requesting to “run it out” or "fox hunt" after a hand has concluded should be limited.
- Criticizing or harassing others based on their playing style or luck of the draw.
POKER ETIQUETTE & FUNDAMENTALS
Players are expected to adhere to the following guidelines at every event:
- Be present at the table to post blinds and deal when it's your turn.
- Pay attention to see if an absent player is nearing the table or is around to play their hand before it is mucked.
- Exercise patience while another player interacts with a server or bartender when placing an order.
- Clearly state your betting actions to avoid confusion for other players.
- Position your larger denomination chips in front of or on top of your stack for visibility.

To uphold the integrity of the event and ensure that free poker remains enjoyable, players are also expected to:
- Alert CVPL host to any suspicious behavior or suspected cheating.
- Call attention to any irregularities in the game.
- Welcome new players.
- Assist in educating newcomers on the basic rules in a polite and friendly manner.
